Die Casting

WHAT IS DIE CASTING?

Die casting is a manufacturing process for producing accurately dimensioned, sharply defined, smooth or textured-surface metal parts. It is accomplished by forcing molten metal under high pressure into reusable metal dies. The process is often described as the shortest distance between raw material and finished product. The term “die casting” is also used to describe the finished part.

The term “gravity die casting” refers to castings made in metal molds under a gravity head. It is known as permanent mold casting in the U.S.A. and Canada. What we call “die casting” here is known as “pressure die casting” in Europe.

KBtooling Rapid uses a customised frame system or existing mould-base with standard tooling components. Compared with conventional die casting tooling, this manufacturing process can help you save up to 40%in both time and cost from a standard die casting service. Generally, our die casting rapid tooling can produce up to 20,000 shots, however, this can exceeded expectations if the volume is low.
Materials used: Aluminum, ADC10/12, A380, A360, magnesium and Zinc #3 & #5.
Finishing: Powder coating, sand blasting, anodizing, painting, plating and polishing etc.

One process will never suit every project, which is why we offer multiple solutions to your die casting needs. This ensures the right process is always used for the right application. Our zero-defect quality goal is one of the reasons why we are the preferred supplier to many of the world’s leading manufacturers. Ultimately we believe that if you can imagine it, we can cast it.

Management:

Engineering and manufacturing management. Provide immediate management support while assisting in recruiting and screening candidates for full time position.

Technology updates:

Update your staff and yourself with the latest process control, tool engineering, and design techniques.

Machine and facility process capability:

Develop matrix of your present die cast machine and trim press physical capabilities. This will identify machine design and maintenance problems. The matrix can be developed to create the foundation for a rebuild and upgrade program as well as becoming the template for short and long term capital improvement budgets. A capacity study can be derived from this information.

Die Cast Tool process capability study:

Evaluate the top 80% of current tools for physical condition. Evaluate gating, temperature control, and tool configuration for optimum output. Provide recommendations for tool modifications. Revisions can be managed either by your staff or under my supervision.

Experience:

We have extensive experience with Aluminum, magnesium, and zinc from Dynacast and Techmire multi-slide to 4,000 U.S. tons (35,585 kilonewtons). Castings weights from a few grams to 100 pounds (45 kilograms). I have served numerous industries including, the big three and import automotive first and second tier, home and commercial electronics, aerospace, defense, home appliance, power tools, archery, gaming industry, outdoor lighting, home heating and cooling, construction industry, etc.
